Termite Treatment?

After months of looking and four failed attempts, we have finally found a house to buy. We had the inspection done this morning, and the main problem found was termite damage to the garage, which is attached to the house by a breezeway. The inspector recommended tenting the whole house, which means the lender will require that we do that.
DH wanted me to feel comfortable with the idea of fumigating the entire house with chemicals a few days before we move our babies and animals in, so I am trying to quickly do some research about the products they use. Since MTers seem to be savy on things like this, I wanted to see if anyone can provide some input. They would use Vikane and chloropicrin, which both sound awful. But then so does having bugs eating our house from around us.
Has anyone dealt with this? Does anyone know anything about these chemicals? Any input would be most appreciated.
Boy explosion?

In my middle-of-the-night feeding stupor last night, it occurred to me that I know 12 people who have either had or are going to have babies between August 2007 and May 2008 (including me), and of those 12 people, 10 are having boys. TEN!
I'm no statistician (not even sure I can spell it), but that looks to me like quite an unfortunate ratio or boys to girls. Suddenly I have become concerned that in about 20 years dueling is going to come back into vogue and my two little boys will have to fight to the death to get a girl. Unless they are gay, of course, in which case this might work out to their advantage. But assuming they're not.
So I wonder whether this phenomenon is just a crazy coincidence or whether anyone else has noticed such a trend?
Introducing...me

I have lurked long enough. It is high time I greet you all properly with a little introduction.
I am a recovering attorney now SAHM with two little boys, ages 2 and almost 3 months. If I had to label myself, I would be a bit of a slacker mom who wished for a bit more alpha in her style. At this point, though, I would have a hard time going back to any job that would require more formal attire than jeans and flip flops.
About 1 1/2 years ago, DH decided he had to get out of the big city, so we moved from Houston to a small Texas town. I have met some lovely people and have enjoyed the lack of traffic and crime, but we both agree this is not where we belong right now. So we are in the process of looking for a house back in the city. Of course, we have added another baby to this move. And a cat. Sigh.
