Send the Sunshine

Tue May 20, 2008 at 09:59:54 AM PDT

I wasn't going to make a diary about this, but I decided I need all the prayers, good wishes, and sunshine that everyone can send!  I am 13 weeks' pregnant with my second child...very excited, but very nervous.

Six Degrees of Me

Fri Mar 23, 2007 at 07:23:58 AM PDT

I was faithfully reading my People magazine (can I get an amen, Elisa!) when I came across a story about an actor named James Tupper from a show called "Men in Trees."  I don't watch the show, but I read the mag from cover to cover, so I dove in.  After thinking about the bits of personal information, it hit me: I dated one of his brothers when I lived in London 14 years ago.  The brother & I kept in touch for several years, but have lost contact since about 2000.  I was kind of freaked out by such a bizarre discovery, but it got me thinking about celebrity, connectedness, and things of that nature.

A Little Miss Manners Query

Thu Jan 25, 2007 at 12:34:41 PM PDT

It happened again today.  A close friend, who happens to be conservative, forwarded an e-mail full of some garbage about how Al Gore, Bill Clinton, and Hillary Clinton sometime in their pasts help to free three Black Panther members accused of torturing and murdering a fellow member.

Teething & Chemicals

Thu Jan 11, 2007 at 12:02:44 PM PDT

I think Gus might be starting to teethe.  I can't feel anything, but he's almost six months old, he drools like a fountain, and he starting to bite down on things.

UPDATE - Gus is home

Wed Oct 25, 2006 at 05:26:39 PM PDT

Hi everyone,
I just got a message from Rachel, which reminded me that I haven't logged on in awhile.  What could keep me from the carousel that is MotherTalkers?  I've got my baby home!  Gus was able to come home with us on September 28.  He weighed 8 lbs, 6 oz (up from 3 lbs, 3 oz at birth).  His breathing is great, although we are still working on his eating.  He is on acid reflux medication and his reflux is pretty severe; it causes him a lot of discomfort.

So that, in addition to the fact that I'm only two weeks past my original due date and he acts like a newborn in many respects, means I'm almost completely sleepless!  This must get better, right, or people wouldn't do it a second time!

Thanks for all the support you all gave me.  We are pretty much in isolation for the winter, so once I get rested and a schedule, I imagine I'll be on quite a bit so I can have some connection to the outside world.  I would love to post a photo, but I don't know how, so if someone can guide me through it, I'll post one as an edit to this diary.  Have a great day!

Do You Understand Your Parents?

Fri Aug 18, 2006 at 09:35:22 AM PDT

Our four-week-old son is still in the hospital after being born almost 12 weeks early.  Last night, as we were getting ready to go to sleep, my husband asked, "Do you think Gus will understand us?"

Introducing Me

Thu May 11, 2006 at 08:04:24 AM PDT

Hi all,
I've been here a few weeks, so time to let you know a bit more about me.  My name is Cindy, I'm 37, and I'll be having my first child in October.  I've been married for three years and live in a suburb of the Twin Cities.  My husband & I grew up in the great state of North Dakota, now sadly and unfortunately red, but hey, I grew up there and became a liberal, so there's hope.
