My daughter spent the entire night coughing and flailing between The Husband and me, so this morning I nixed preschool so she could have a rest day. We put on our slippers, ate oatmeal and chicken noodle soup for breakfast and lounged around the sofa. She played Littlest Pet Shop, while I hid behind a magazine, drank coffee and tried to evade playing Littlest Pet Shop.
Sometimes sick-kid days are actually a nice break, instead of the hellacious, sleep-deprived whirlwind of trips to the doctor-urgent-care-pharmacy that they can be. So our morning was nice and easy.
But around noon, I started feeling like a lump. Unshowered. Sink full of dirty dishes. Laundry piling up. Living room completely trashed with toys and newspapers. No plans for dinner, and lackluster offerings in the refrigerator.
I haven't made any money professionally in over a month.
