The only news story that piqued my interest yesterday was that of Attorney General Eric Holder’s resignation. Personally, I was grateful to see him devote his public service to the pressing civil rights issues of our time: gay rights; immigrant rights; prison sentencing reform, which disproportionately impacts people of color; investigations into injustices such as the lack of accountability in Michael Brown’s shooting death in Missouri; and legal challenges to the gutting of key provisions of the Voting Rights Act. I’m sad to see him go, but understand that a post at the White House is not the most family or human-friendly of jobs.
In better news: Amazing Race is back up tonight. (Yay!) I’ll be preparing a healthy “snack-like” food spread and watching with the family.
What else is in the news? What’s up with you?
As many of you already know from the change on my facebook status, my boyfriend and I broke up last week. Apparently, he didn’t love me as much as he claimed, or I didn’t know him as well as I thought I did. Sad – because now he’s just somebody that I used to know. Nonetheless, I am in a period of mourning and have decided to buck up, work through it, and move on.
I want to thank you all for your words of encouragement, both here and on facebook via comments on the change in my relationship status and through private messages. You gals are AWESOME! In addition, plenty of my girlfriends have rallied their support and have already lined up a few dates for me, with my very first date being for tonight! You know what they say – one nail drives out another! Hee, hee! I know it may be too soon, but there is nothing wrong with some manly attention, right? God bless my girls. Where would I be without my little corner of cheerleaders?
So, wish me luck on my date tonight! What to wear, what to wear…?
Karina will also be home from school this weekend, so that will be a nice distraction. I miss my girl.
What about you? Any big plans for the weekend?

What else is going on?
It’s Thursday! How are you today?
I feel as if I’ve been fighting a cold for a whole year. What the HELL is up with this weather? One day is hotter than hell, the next day it’s FREEZING. Tell me, is there any truth to being more prone to getting sick if the weather fluctuates?
How are you this Thursday morning?
How is everyone doing today? I am just emerging from my Daylight Savings-induced coma. Blergh.
How are you today? What will you do with that extra hour of daylight?
It’s the weekend, y’all!
And Daylight Savings Time begins tonight, so don’t forget to set your clocks forward one hour before you go to bed tonight.
DH and I will be away this weekend; he is riding in another century (100 mile bike ride), and I decided to tag along. I was a little miffed to realize that thanks to Daylight Savings, we will be losing one hour of precious time! (I know, I know. I need to start playing the world’s tiniest violin.)
But this might be his last race for a while, as he has developed a neuropathy in his foot from overuse. His doctor gave him the go-ahead to ride this weekend then told him he has to rest, and referred him to a podiatrist. I’m hoping he enjoys it as best he can, because he gets cranky when he can’t ride his bike :-/
Anyone planning on watching Game Change tonight? It will be waiting on our DVR when we get back.
What’s on your mind today? Chat away . . .
