Feministing directed me to a New York Times article posted yesterday about Junie B Jones. DD is only 15 months, but I've purchased quite a few Junie books for my nieces, though I never read through them.

Junie speaks like a kindergartener, bad grammar and all. She "hates" kids and disregards authority, she called 9-11 when she couldn't find a bathroom. Yes, if Junie B were a real life person, odds are her parents would have straightened her out of DSFC would have gotten involved by now.
