Tip of the Day: Don't Go Shoeless in Burger King!

While I felt for the mom who had to endure this humiliation, I admit, I got a chuckle reading this Associated Press story about a mother who was asked to leave Burger King because her six-month-old baby was shoeless.

Jennifer Frederich, her mother and Frederich's infant daughter, Kaylin, stopped at the Burger King in Sunset Hills, (Missouri), on Sunday. The baby was shoeless — Frederich figured tiny baby feet were immune from the rule.

But workers told the family to leave because the shoeless baby was violating a health code. In fact, shoelessness is not a health code violation in St. Louis County.

Frederich told KTVI-TV that she and her mother ate hurriedly and left before they could be kicked out. Frederich did not have a listed phone number, and The Associated Press could not reach her for comment.

Burger King released a statement Thursday indicating workers had taken the no shoes, no service policy too far.

Burger King did apologize to the family.

You Want Fries With That?

While traveling last week on the east coast, I happened to see part of a commercial for something that I could not quite comprehend.  There was something on the screen that looked like french fries.

But, the voiceover said something about apples. Now, my brain could not quite reconcile the photo of what looked like fries in a fry box (or um, "frypod") with the word "apple".  So when we returned home, I did a little searching.

It turns out that this is Burger King's newest foray into healthy foods for their children's meals: Apple fries.

For BK, the Fresh Apple Fries took years to develop. "We didn't want to do apple slices just to do slices," says Syracuse. "We wanted to do something that parents felt good about buying."
