This came as a shock to me and it was mentioned in our open thread below. But in case you missed it, actor Heath Ledger, who played cowboy Ennis Del Mar in Brokeback Mountain, is dead. He was 28.

It appears that he overdosed on prescription medication, although that has not been officially confirmed, according to CNN.

Ledger left behind a 2-year-old daughter who he had with his ex-girlfriend, actress Michelle Williams. How sad.
