Have you read Inkheart by Cornelia Funke? If you have, you're in luck - it has been made into a movie being released on January 23, 2009. Inkheart is a fantasy adventure that sends a father and daughter on "a quest through worlds both real and imagined".

Father and daughter share a passion for books. What they also share is a unique gift for bringing characters from books to life when they read aloud.  But there is a danger: for every character brought to life from a book, a real person disappears into its pages.

The movie stars Brendan Fraser as Mortimer "Mo" Folchart, and got a 67% "Fresh Tomatoe" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I'm excited to see it and so are my kids - so we'll be there on opening night!

I actually have a nice story about Brendan Fraser. I met him about four years ago; he and his wife walked into a restaurant where I was having dinner. Karina LOVES him, but wasn't with me that night because she had just graduated from elementary school and was with her father. As the 6'4" actor and his wife were waiting for a table, I walked over and introduced myself. I explained how much Karina loved him and how disappointed she was going to be that she wasn't with me. His response? "Would you like me to call her?" He used my phone and called her. He congratulated her on graduating and signed an autograph. He was SO sweet!
