Obama in Allentown

As most of you know (if you care), I plan to vote for Hillary Clinton on April 22nd. However, I am a realist, and I recognize that it is most likely that Barack Obama will be the Democratic nominee for President this year.
In that spirit, I decided to attend his rally in Allentown last night. A dear friend stood on line Sunday morning and picked up tickets for us, and we all left work a little early to head to the arena on the campus of Muhlenberg College in one of the nicest neighborhoods, I think, in the whole country -- the west end of Allentown.
Pictures after the jump!
Obama has been on the road since Friday, when he received Senator Casey's endorsement. As we all know, he's tried his hand at the blue collar thing -- bowling (badly), drinking Yuengling (good choice!), visiting chocolate factories, etc.
Arriving in Allentown last night, he looked a bit tired, but still gave the crowd of 3,500 his best effort at his stump speech. It was evident to me right away that his speech had been altered to suit the state. There was still talk of Hope and Change, but it was woven into a much deeper discussion of the nation's economic troubles. He took few jabs at Senator Clinton, reserving his best daggers for McCain. In fact, he called for unity at the end of the primary no matter the result, noting that the differences between himself and Senator Clinton were nothing compared to their differences with John McCain.
Having heard Bill Clinton speak in person two weeks ago, it was astounding how very similar Obama and Hillary Clinton's positions and plans were. In the end, the main difference is the messenger. If the majority of Democrats want Obama to be the messenger, then so be it. It was thrilling to be there and think that this man could be our next president. I hope I have a chance to see Senator Clinton in person as well.
I've been trying since last night to upload video to YouTube, so far unsuccessfully. For now, I'll post a couple of photos instead.
Being introduced by Senator Bob Casey
A thoughtful moment (you can tell he's still honing this more populist stump speech)
Nice Smile!
Of course there was a baby....
