I just met America Ferrara at a bar in Allentown, Pennsylvania.  That's right.  A corner bar in a gritty neighborhood.  In Allentown.  Pennsylvania.

So, you might ask.  Just what was the very NOT Ugly Betty doing in this blue collar establishment?  Why, stumping for Hillary Clinton, of course!  Ms. Ferrara spent today shuttling around eastern Pennsylvania with Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez of New York in support of Hillary Clinton.  They visited the Hotel Grand bar this afternoon to encourage voter registration, and perhaps moreso, to cheer on volunteers who had been out this morning canvassing.

I actually stumbled into the event accidentally.  I showed up at the campaign office for a phone banking shift and was told that everyone was instead headed over to the Hotel Grand for the event.  So, I kind of felt bad about bugging out on the phone banking, but I signed up for another shift this coming Monday night.

Along the walk to the bar I talked to a number of folks who had driven up from Washington, DC, for the weekend to canvas.  It was great to see that the campaign had directed them to the Lehigh Valley.  Further proof that this region is maturing as a political force to be reckoned with.

What a week for the Valley!  Bill Clinton on Wednesday and America Ferrara today.  My head is spinning!
