My Baby is Turning Sweet Sixteen! Ouch!

Could someone tell me where does the time go? I sat on the floor last night after blabbing with my dd for a couple of hours as we went through two containers worth of her saved art and school work. We had so much fun going back in time. She read aloud many of the writings she did over the years and laughed out loud at her early phonetic spelling and stick figure art. What fun we had reminiscing.
This is a SHOUT OUT for being a bursting full of love mama. My heart overflows with love for my now grown children. They are both such independent unique people. I know in my mind how many years I have put into parenting, but in my heart, it seems like a blink of my eye and they have become who they are overnight.
Mostly this is such a joy, but my heartstrings tug at me as I consider where I am in life, and where they are. The scales tip to joy, but there is sorrow too, letting go of a certain chapter of my life. My ds shared that he won't be coming home for thanksgiving, he'll be going to join a college friend's family in Arizona. I love that he is making his own plans, but I'll miss him being with us too.
For now, I have my eyes and heart set on my dd sixteenth birthday next week. I can't wait to enjoy seeing her have a loving celebration with her friends at our home....sigh.
So fellow (and younger) MTers, enjoy what may seem like unending days of young children and motherhood...it is amazing how quickly they go.
