Indiana, North Carolina Open Thread

Tue May 06, 2008 at 11:52:46 AM PDT

I am feeling a little election-fatigued, but it is an exciting race in that moms here and everywhere have a say in the nominating process. Indiana and North Carolina moms: Please give us updates!

The polls in North Carolina close at 7:30 p.m. EDT and at 6 p.m. local time in Indiana, according to my quick and dirty google search.

I got an email from her saying:

Yeah, should be an interesting day...we voted this a.m.  Looks like VERY high turnout, of course, we knew that.

  • Barack Obama the 44th president (0 / 0)

    Obama 08, Yes We Can!

  • At this point I just want it over (0 / 0)

and I want a democrat in the white house.  I remain in Camp Hillary and I will be with her until she either concedes to Obama or secures the nomination and beyond and of the nomination is obama's I"ll put a sticker on my car (ok I'll wimp out an tape it in the window I mean I have some limits) and go from there. but right now Ijust want it over with.

remember for those of us in NH this started TWO YEARS AGO! LOL

    • battle fatigue (0 / 0)

no kidding! But I'm still so glad that the turnout is high in all these states. Let's hope we can follow up and make sure they come out for us/with us on Election Day!

    • me, too (0 / 0)

Looking forward to it being decided so that we can all focus our attention on beating McCain.

    • LOL (0 / 0)

Katie, you are so funny. Thanks for the morning giggle. I actually have an HRC sticker AND an Obama sticker waiting to be placed on my car. I think I've had them both for 2 months. Heck, I have an Edwards sticker, too, but that's in the bumpersticker graveyard in my desk drawer.

      • Hey, save those stickers! (0 / 0)

I saw a piece a while back talking about who election stickers, pins, buttons, etc., were collectibles.  Maybe instead of sticking them on our bumpers, we should stash them away for 20 years and use the proceeds for retirement gifts to ourselves.

        • Near my house (0 / 0)

there's a truck that has the stickers for every democratic ticket since Mondale/Ferraro.  The truck doesn't look that old, but maybe the owner has just kept it in fantastic shape.  It's pretty lovely to see, though.

  • I'm so excited to vote (0 / 0)

in a presidential primary and have it mean something.  That may have happened in my first election, '84, but it's hard to remember that far back.  :-)

I voted at 7:30 this morning and was number 50.  My husband voted 11 hours later and was number 500 something.  That's incredible turnout for our precinct.

Obama's speaking right now from NCSU.  If I'd have known, I would have cancelled those eye doctor appointments to be there.

In the state races, it looks like I'm running about 50/50 right now.  Our governor's race is going to be nasty for the general election.  Boy, am I glad the ads are over for a few months.

  • Even as an Obama mama (0 / 0)

my heart kind of hurts for Hillary and her supporters.  Like everyone else, I want a democrat in the white house first and foremost.  I want Obama to win, but I don't want HRC to lose...

    • Thanks Erin (0 / 0)

and I  think we have a lot of work to do as a party to come together about this.  I was having lunch with a co worker who worked hard for obama and an acquaintance of ours stopped to visit -- she is a big NH Dem VIP and was all over the news nationally for Obama during the primary and she went on and on about "those people' in the Clinton camp and I thought 'um. hello?  race not over yet?  clinton supporter sitting right here!"  sigh.

I just want it over.  LOL

      • John McCain (0 / 0)

that's who I evilly want to see lose.  Not HRC.

Similarly, a friend of mine, the queen of the backhanded comment, said to me the other day "well, of course democrats want to vote for Obama, because they want to prove how liberal and open minded they are."  Yeah, because nobody could possibly have a good reason for differing with her!

By the by, I bet you're great at handling backhanded comments.  What's your strategy?  Considering that the backhander will mostly likely deny it?

    • yes! exactly! (0 / 0)

that's exactly it. I don't want HRC to lose, even though I'm enthusiastic about Obama. It's a yuck.
