Mother Talkers

MT Diversion- Mothertalkers The Movie!

Sat Apr 19, 2008 at 07:38:08 AM PDT

Since no one seemed to mind the silly quick hit idea, I thought I'd give another. If you want to make up your own MT Diversion, by all means do so- this is in no way a proprietary idea, as I swiped it myself :)

Now Casting: MotherTalkers, the Movie. Finally having run out of original ideas, Hollywood has turned it's creative eye to the hottest blogs on the net. Yes, the television appearances of Perez and the Britney Crying Man were just the beginning! In what is sure to be the biggest ensemble cast ever, each poster will be represented on-screen with one other member of their family. Seeing as though the casting would be a nightmare, the director's turned it over to you! So for your appearance in this movie, please provide:

  1. The actor who SHOULD play you
  1. The actor you WISH would play you
  1. Your supporting cast member (DH, DD? DS? Sophie's Choice Lite- choose one!) and the actor that would play them

Have fun!

    1.  Probably that girl who was briefly famous in the 90's...Gabby Hoffman?  She should probably play me.
    1.  But I wish Catherine Zeta-Jones.
    1.  I was going to refuse this one, but probably my husband should be my supporting actor, since we're a team and the kids are just kids.
  • asdf (0 / 0)

Should: Roseanne Barr or a younger Stockard Channing
Wish: Jodie Foster - oh I love her
Supporting: My DH played by Daniel Day Lewis

  • Gotta say (0 / 0)

I would like for Susan Sarandan to play me, but, realistically, probably Emma Thompson might be closer (minus the accent, ofcourse).

  • hmm (0 / 0)

    1. should: mary stuart masterson but not as skinny
    1. wish: not an actress, but ani difranco
    1. DH: totally looks like Leonardo DiCaprio. I'm not making this up. yay me!

  • I'll try (0 / 0)

    1. should play me: Elizabeth Perkins is the person I have most frequently been told I look like [I don't see it, personally, but she's attractive so I'll go with it]
    1. I wish would play me: my DH loves Mary Louise Parker so as my gift to him, she can play me
    1. I can't choose between my kids, so DH will be played by, hmmm, Ed Harris maybe? Although if I give him ML Parker he could give me George Clooney...
    • Mary Louise Parker (0 / 0)

People used to tell me that I looked like her while I was in college.  I don't think I do anymore.  I have bangs now and I looked most like her when I didn't have bangs and she and I had similar hair back in the 90s.

Three kids later and my physique is no longer anywhere near hers either.  Oh well.  She should get a different haircut and eat some cheeseburgers or something so I can look like her again LOL.

  • My casting (0 / 0)

Should: Um, with a brunette dye job, then, Virginia Madsen

Wish: Actually Virginia Madsen is quite good (Sideways)

Supporting actor: Hubby played by Conan O'Brien...that's all I can think of, because DH is 6'6" and has red hair. And he's really funny! My husband that is!

  • I've cast everybody (0 / 0)

I love this stuff, too. I've cast most of my friends in the future movie of our, ahem, very intriguing lives. And me, but dh is harder. So:

Who should play me: Laura Linney or Cynthia Nixon. I was once very tentatively approached in a cafe once by someone who thought I was Cynthia Nixon. Anyhoo, these two both work very well looks wise, and sensibility wise.

Who I wish played me: I'm good with Laura or Cynthia :). I've had a decades long obsession with Nicole Kidman, but she's too hothouse for me. I'm currently fascinated by Drew Barrymore, but she's too young, and not the same persona as Laura or Cynthia.

Suporting actors: Dh, but he's hard to cast. A tall skinny Jewish lawyerly guy, usually slightly (or more) rumpled, with a permanent twinkle in his eye and an easy smile. Mid to late 40s. Any ideas? My two best friends are Richard Gere and Quong Li (which I'm sure I misspelled.)

This is one of my favorite games, thanks, M!

  • Fun! (0 / 0)

    1.  Who should play me and who I wish could play me are the same person.  Amy Adams.

Out of every Hollywood gal, I probably look most like her, albeit on a really, really, really, good day.  Like the best day of my entire life.

    1.  My DH, hmm.  Closest would be Ethan Hawke, although without the messy hair.
  • I flatter myself, but (0 / 0)

I want Toni Colette to play me. She's so cool! I love Muriel's Wedding and pretty much everything she does.

I have no idea who should actually play me, but I'd love to have Daniel Day-Lewis for my supporting actor. He was very hot in Last of the Mohicans.

  • Lynda Carter (0 / 0)

Dating myself here but when I worked at an inner city all Black elementary school in Kansas City back in the 70's, all of my little charges thought I looked like Wonder Woman who was played by Lynda Carter.

Lynda Carter is a couple of years older than me, has darker hair and much much bigger boobs....

...but yea--she could be me. I'd be flattered.

  • Hmmm.... (0 / 0)

Should play me:  Maybe Kate Winslet if she puts on 25 pounds and never wears make-up

Want to play me:  Actually, Kate Winslet would be great (minus the 25 pounds and with some nice clothes and make-up)

Supporting:  Got to be DH (how could I pick between the kids?)  I think he's sort of a cross between Ben Afflek and Vince Vaugn...

  • hmmmm (0 / 0)

Wow. I have such a hard time picking people for myself...

1.) should. Janine Garafalo with ash blonde hair. That's probably about right, although I could be insulting Janine...
2.) wish. A young Katherine Hepburn. Why not shoot the moon? Melissa never said it had to be a living actor!
3.) Supporting cast. Could there ever be a child actor who could correctly portray Jess? Never! DH? Hmm... tough one. As DH is Australian, Eric Bana is an obvious choice (Incredible Hulk, Troy, The Bolyn Sisters). Well, why not? They're both from similar backgrounds and from Melbourne. So there you go.

  • ok (0 / 0)

Who should play me:  a somewhat younger Dianne Keaton.

Who I wish would play me: a much younger Dianne Keaton.

  • I still can't think of an actress (0 / 0)

Who looks anything like me.  If we are going the total fantasy route, I shall have Elizabeth Pena portray my pale German ass.  For she is sexybeautiful and Lone Star is a fine film.

I think DH could be portrayed by Lior Ashkenazi.  They have not entirely dissimilar noses, very similar builds, and are muy sexy.  DH has more hair, though, and is younger.

DH is supporting. He's been around fr 12 yrs (10 yr anniversary, coming up!) and DS for less than 2.

  • my turn (0 / 0)

    1. The celebrity I have been told I look like, by several people over the years, is Ashley Judd. Kind of perplexing as I'm Mexican and she's...well, not. But she's a fox so I'll take it!
    1. Ashley it is.
    1. My DH would be played by Luke Wilson...LOVE him!

Here is a REALLY fun thing: Download a photo of yourself or your hubby at My Heritage. They have this face recognition feature that will tell you which celebrities you most resemble. Mine included Elisha Cuthbert and Charlize Theron! It's a fun ego boost.

    • DH says... (0 / 0)

...the actor he wishes would play him is Russell Crowe.

      • Hey, not for nothing (0 / 0)

but now that he's a daddy, Russell Crowe has sworn off doing back-to-back movies so he can be the SAHD while his wife gets her singing career back in order. I see the parallels... Although I've never heard of Papi Blez hurling phones at service staff!

    • Hmph. (0 / 0)

Ego boost for you perhaps. Mine said that I look like Hillary Clinton. Now, I like the lady and everything. But I don't particularly want to look like her... Of course, I was hampered by the fact that my photographer husband has taken tens of thousands of photos of the kids...and I can't find a single face on shot of me!

    • Hey, you do! (0 / 0)

I totally see the resemblance to Ashley. Esp. if you picture her with loose curls.

Dh loves her so much that whenever she is on the cover of a magazine I buy it for him :).

  • Oh fun (0 / 0)

    1.  Mary Louise Parker.  People used to tell me all the time that I looked like her.  Alas, she'll need bangs now and to put on a few pounds.  I don't hear it so much anymore.
    1.  Guess I'll stick with Mary-Louise.
    1.  I can't think of any child actors that look like my kids.  DH may kill me for this but I could see Kevin Smith playing him.  Not so much that they look alike but I think he'd capture him.  Maybe Jack Black too although he's a bit more manic than DH.
  • Okay... (0 / 0)

    1. Gwyneth Paltrow (with short hair). Only because a desperate (and stupid) tourist once mistook me for her in LA airport. I played along and signed her book. Hey...it made her vacation!
    1. Jodie Foster. I just like her.
    1. Supporting cast: The husband is sort of Heath Ledger-ish. The kids: DD is the little girl from Monsters Inc., and the boy is the Tasmanian Devil. Actually, maybe they're Thing 1 and Thing 2 from The Cat in the Hat.
  • Here's mine (0 / 0)

    1.  Joan Cusak in a fat suit
    1. Joan Cusak not in a fat suit
    1. hmmm... Abigail Breslin could be Liza.   but kelly would be very hard to cast -- maybe that woman who played Drew's secretary on teh Drew Carey show! LOL
    • Perfect (0 / 0)

but she does NOT need the fat suit. You are too much, Katie!

      Mimi Bobeck...ROFLMAO!

    • I heart Joan Cusack n/t (0 / 0)

    • love Joan Cusak (0 / 0)

she's such an underappreciated talent. I so loved her in Grosse Pointe Blank.

    • I can't think of anyone (0 / 0)

who really looks like me, but Joan Cusak comes pretty close in personality!  We've been watching a lot of Toy Story 2 (Madeline's really into it) and I crack up every time Jesse (played by Joan Cusack) says in her thick Chicago accent (mind you... she's playing a cowgirl) "I'm sure Aaaaandy would just love to play with a one aaaahrmed cowboy daaaaahl." LOL!

Maybe Julian Moore?  Seriously... I can't think of anyone who really looks like me.

DH has been and always will be Nick Nolte.  He even gets that from strangers.

  • Melissa? (0 / 0)

You posed the query, but we don't have your answers yet!

    • I KNOW (0 / 0)

One busy weekend and yowza :) Ok, mine are:

      1. Drew Barrymore (for the looks thing, though I don't think she could snark it enough)
      1. A younger Lauren Graham, maybe from that phone commercial way back when.
      1. DH played by Jack Black :)

Kid actors and actresses? Waaaaay to few of those, you know? I was watching Annie the other day thinking, could they even find enough kids to cast a 2008 verison of that or Newsies? Would they even try?

  • Emily Watson, Julie Christie, Sally Field (0 / 0)

These are the people I've been told I resemble (in reverse order by age).  I got Sally Field a lot as a kid when the Flying Nun was on.  A real character-building period in my life.

    Wish:  younger Jessica Lange
Real: younger Tyne Daly (no -- I must be prettier than that! -- okay, Jessica Lange + Emily Watson's love child in a fat suit)
Supporting: David Carradine -- DH looks like him and he's a sexy beast

  • Craziest experience (0 / 0)

When I watched the movie Limbo one actor, Vanessa Martinez, looked just like me from certain angles.  It was as if I was watching msyelf on screen.  Looking at her current photos I'd say she's a far more beautiful woman than I but then again I don't wear makeup and haven't had my brows or hair done in ages ;-)

As for someone to play me, I'm fine with her -- like I said, she's quite beautiful!

DH - yikes.  Celebrity meter was all over the place:  Arvydas Sabonis, David Boreanaz, Nick Lachey, William H. Macy, Sean Astin.  Although oddly enough DH does look just like a guy I used to work with.  Truly weird.

Funnily enough one DD was matched with the same actor as me (a stunningly beautiful Chinese woman who looks nothing like me) and other DD (who is African American/Dominican) was matched with Pete Doherty, Oprah Winfrey and a young Angelina Jolie.

  • I'll play. (0 / 0)

    1. Who should: Salma Hayek - I have had three (yes, I've kept track) people over the years tell me I look like her (but I don't... unfortunately)
    1. Who I'd like: Salma Hayek
    1. Supporting cast member: Johnny Depp - A while back I found an old Middle School folder with his picture taped all over it from his '21 Jump Street' days... that makes it a 20 year crush. :)
  • Ah, dreams... (0 / 0)

Should: when I was thinner, and before DS was born I had much curlier hair, I had a few people tell me I looked like Debra Messing.  But Sandra Bullock is probably more like it.

Want: I'd be OK with Sandra

Supporting: Gus would have to play himself right now, because he's Mr. Personality.  A drunk lady once asked DH if he was Drew Carey, so now I can't get that out of my head.

  • this is a fun thing for a Monday afternoon (0 / 0)

Should play me:  Sally Field as she looks on those commercials she's doing lately for some medication.

Wish would play me:  Kate Jackson.

Supporting cast:  Nobody could ever play my kid, she's one of a kind.  She would have to play herself.  Also, many cats.
