Mother Talkers

Childcare At Netroots Nation!

Wed Feb 20, 2008 at 02:17:32 PM PDT

Hi all,

Just in case you are already making summer plans, I wanted to let you know that MotherTalkers will sponsor professional childcare at the Netroots Nation Convention in Austin this July. Barring any last-minute drop-ins, who would pay a small fee of no more than $50, babysitting will be FREE. Woo-hoo!

Here are the hours covered:

Thursday, July 17 from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. (There is a scheduled party that night!)
Friday, July 18 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday, July 19 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday, July 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The childcare will be provided by Corporate Kids Events, who cared for Eli at the BlogHer conference when she was a mere four months of age. They are fabulous!

  • Is this info up on the NN site? (0 / 0)

I don't see it there and I think it would be a good idea to have it at the point where people will be registering.

    :-)

  • Hope I get to meet y'all (0 / 0)

Free child care?!?  Hip hip hooray for Elisa!

I am definitely interested in attending if I can figure out some scheduling issues.  I was wondering if you could give us a little more info about what we happens at the convention?

    • There are... (0 / 0)

workshops, speeches by Democratic Party insiders and activists, caucuses/meetings, and a party to get everyone together, although various organizations may hold parties of their own. In the past, there has been stand-up comedy by Laughing Liberally, a presidential debate, and lots of opportunities to meet candidates running for various offices. Here is a tentative schedule: http://netrootsnation.org/...

As for the childcare, the activities are tailored to children, based on their ages. There are toys, books, art projects and even a TV for the older children to watch DVDs. As for nighttime, the company brings out sleeping bags and mattresses so that the children may sleep. The childcare will be across the street at the Hyatt, so the kids will be very comfortable.

Also, I need to check with them if they will provide lunch. I know lunch and dinner are provided for the adults. But I went in to nurse Eli, so I am not sure about the kids. I will have to check...

  • this is wonderful! Thanks! (0 / 0)

I still haven't pinned down my mother-in-law about coming to Austin, and can't be sure that my husband will come down for a few days either, so the idea of getting someone to entertain "The Little Emperor" is great.
