A Thousand Splendid Suns

Yes, let's do this! I just saw a preview for the Kite Runner and I remembered how much I enjoyed that book. I teared up at the preview. I am looking forward to A Thousand Splendid Suns, which has been collecting dust on my night table. Thank you for moderating, Sue! -Elisa

I mentioned on the Weekend post that I'm reading this book (by the author of The Kite Runner) and would be willing to moderate a discussion.

Is anyone interested in reading this? I'm actually getting through it pretty quickly, so if we want to do a discussion, let me know.

  • I read this one too (0 / 0)

but gave my copy away to a friend.  I'll add my 2 cents in the discussion even though I read this awhile ago and don't have it to leaf through.  I really enjoyed it and thought the female characters were amazingly tough and resilient.  The bond they forge is extremely moving and memorable.

I read it a while ago, but I've been dying to talk about it with someone else who read it...

I read it back in June.  It was great, although sad.  Would love to discuss it here.

  • My DH was blown away by it (0 / 0)

He'd be reading it at bedtime, and sometimes I'd glance at him and he'd have this really stricken look on his face. He said it was great, powerful, intense and sad. I've been holding back on reading it because I have had enough other intense things going on in my life, but I really want to read it. I loved the Kite Runner and have recommended it to everyone I know.

I no longer have a copy, either (graciously loaned by my neighbor across the street), but please count me in-a terrific, moving, memorable book with amazing female protagonists.

I would love to join in this discussion, if we're voting.
