I am Thankful

Thu Nov 22, 2007 at 05:52:46 AM PDT

Happy Thanksgiving MTers! May your day be full of family, friends, food, and fun. We're off to spend the day with my in-laws and will eat ALL DAY long! Isn't crazy how we stuff ourselves silly on holidays like this? Its nice to step back on days like this and take a minute to appreciate things in our lives. I am Thankful for my family, for my health, for an uneventful pregnancy (so far so good), for the support of my DH in my choice to stay home to raise our children, and for all of you! I'd go crazy without my fellow parents out there in the trenches!

I also love that holidays are great times to make new memories. DS helped me make a cranberry relish that is a Thanksgiving staple at our house (funny thing is growing up only my mom really liked it, but once DH tried it I HAD to make it every year for him). To make it the right way I had to use an old-fashioned meat grinder. DS had a blast turning the handle. I took a bunch of pictures and emailed them to my mom. It brought back memories of my brother and I fighting over who would get that job.

SO MTers what are you Thankful for this year?

  • Down Time! (0 / 0)

My favorite part of the Thanksgiving holidays has always been the way that time slows down for several days.  (We don't ever travel)  Fall is such a rush of activity, then all of a sudden we stop and just hang out at the house for several days, with just one Thanksgiving day outing to DH's Aunt's house for the big meal.

Now that our two are getting a little older and more independent, we can more fully enjoy these stay-in-pajamas-till-late-morning, play-board-games, watch-too-much-TV, catch-up-on-random-chores types of days.  I'm so enjoying just hanging out with the boys, watching silly kids movies on TV, getting organized for Christmas, etc.

I'm thankful that my little family and I are here, healthy, happy, safe and enjoying each other's company!

  • rest and little cooking (0 / 0)

I am still pretty sick with ear infection/bronchitis(I make weird lung sounds when I lie down) but my husband made a pie last night and this morning my son baked banana bread(his specialty) and they will go to a friend's house south of here. I may stay home and sleep and watch movies I rented.(on rec's here I got The Big Lebowski) I am thankful to have the chance to take care and recover - quite a luxury for many who must work no matter what.

  • I'm thankful for (0 / 0)

My DH (who is wonderful), DD, DS-to-be, & my little bro (that's my household).  I'm thankful that DH gets today, tomorrow and the weekend off.  I'm thankful we're not going anywhere, except out to eat on Saturday.  I'm thankful that we're hitting 37 weeks tomorrow and it doesn't LOOK like DS will be escaping prior to that.  Also thankful we're only having a small "Family Dysfunction Awareness Day" (thanks, BiPM) celebration here...our household plus 3 people.

  • Same as you, littlepear, (0 / 0)

I'm thankful for family, friends, and health, mostly. And I can't wait to EAT! I'm a lactating mom and I'm hungry.

Oh yeah, and a friend reminded me that, "You are what you eat!;)", so I guess I'm thankful to be a turkey, too.

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  • Thankful for... (0 / 0)

my two kids who make me laugh all (okay.. most) the time.  My DH who works his butt off for us and still has a sense of humor.  My mom, who just moved here this summer and actually taught me everything I know about blogging and formatting.  ;-)

I'm thankful for all you MotherTalkers too.  You are my morning cup of coffee, my lunchtime break, my evening cup of tea.  I learn so much from you all and I hope all of you are blessed with a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  • Happy Turkey Day (0 / 0)

To all the girls/women at Mothertalkers.  Remember ladies, fee those kids plenty of Turkey, so they fall asleep early.  :-)

I raise a glass of wine in toast, and a bottle of Blue Moon Belgian White for all the husbands.

  • happy day after thanksgiving! (0 / 0)

i'm thankful noone in my house likes to go shopping the day after thanksgiving

i'm not leaving the house today.  yay!

and i'm thankful for the moms at this site- i love reading what you write.

and i'm thankful my kids were thankful yesterday- when i was fixing my four year old's plate she said "we have to say thank you."

and my fourteen year old son was at his dad's for thanksgiving, but he surprised me w/ a phone call to tell me happy thanksgiving- he almost never calls me from his dad's house, and if he does, it's because he needs something- so i was very happy.

    xoxo
