I need to get over the guilt I talked about down thread, where I feel bad asking for more for my kids because they really are doing fine in school. I feel like those whose kids have serious learning disabilities "deserve" to ask more for their kids but I feel like a whiner if I ask for more for my kids.
Like, can't I just be happy that they are bright and making fairly good grades? Other people have it so much worse, ya know?
Once I learn to navigate middle school, perhaps I'll figure this one out. Thanks for the encouragement!

I'm just afraid that we lose some really bright kids who have failure experiences in school and get turned off, in part because they're so bright.
At this point, it's hard to get any services for bright kids who are making average or above grades, because school districts aren't mandated to maximize a child's potential. It's true that resources are scarce, but what are we as a society missing out on if these kids aren't able to contribute to their fullest without some support?
Anyway, you go!
