Apart from being a terrific Johnny Cash song, is what my first midwife called the part where the baby first "crowns"...
She was showing me (a first time mom) some rather graphic pictures of an actual vaginal delivery. Yeah...
I quavered, "Ring of fire? Can't we come up with a better name? The ring of niceness?" She just snorted at my profound ignorance...

much more like sitting on a bowling ball and trying to get it back out! I never perceived it as particularly painful, it was just a very strong and powerful feeling.

I think my old Midwife was kind of into scaring people. It was quite powerful. All of the "pushing" experience was pretty euphoric for me actually.
