I didn't have a single craving or aversion.
It was kind of disappointing...I actually looked forward to sending my husband off on middle of the night quests for whatever I wanted, but it wasn't meant to be!
I can't complain though, because I also never had morning sickness or nausea or swollen ankles or any of the other lovely side effects of pregnancy. So no cravings, no problem!

I hate you.

I think I might hate you too.

I'll spare you the details of my labor and delivery, or you might hunt me down. ;-)
by Erika on Thu May 08, 2008 at 06:30:08 PM PDT
and wish you the same next time around! ;-)

she didn't even KNOW she was in labor! They had to TELL HER!! What's up with THAT?!?!?!?!?!?
Yes, I'm bitter.
by gloria on Thu May 08, 2008 at 08:31:59 PM PDT
but when they were pulling out the second twin with forceps, I kinda got the picture!
by tjb22 on Thu May 08, 2008 at 08:34:47 PM PDT
Who told her then, and how did she cross paths with that person? Did she show up at a regular app't and the doc was like, did you bring your suitcase?
Sorry, Erika, I'm talking about you in the third person - rude! I'm just thinking there is a good story in there somewhere. And more power to you, and the same for next time!

She examined me and told me I was 3 cm dilated and 100% effaced. Then I felt a gush and she said, "Oops, your water just broke." I said, what does that mean? She said, that means you're having a baby today! My response? "Shut UP!"
I went directly to the hospital while DH went home to get my suitcase. After 2 or 3 hours of contractions I got an epidural and promptly fell asleep. A couple hours later, DH was watching my contractions on the monitor get closer and closer. He went to get a nurse, who woke me, checked me and said, "You're ready to go!"
I pushed through 4 contractions, and Maya was born.
Dumb luck, but I sure was grateful!

I had unusually easy labors most of the time, too. So many times, we hear the horror stories...I love it when people have really great labor and delivery stories to share!

but I still wish the same second time around! And maybe shove a bit of that my way, too!
by Rachel on Thu May 08, 2008 at 10:41:56 PM PDT
for more of the same. And another beautiful little one like Maya.

That's awesome, Erika. I hope your second one comes the same way - especially with that little nap in there :).

First sleep I'd had in two days...

kept talking to me. And of course I was too polite to say "shut up so I can get the last scrap of rest I'll ever see for the next year."
by Rachel on Fri May 09, 2008 at 11:12:37 PM PDT
I bet midwives have heard it all. Laboring women are exempt from all social constraints...IMHO!
by Suzanne77 on Sat May 10, 2008 at 04:22:46 PM PDT
...well, you know the rest. :-)

It must be tiresome to be told you're hated all the time.
But my empathy for you will not stop me from saying I hate you too. :D

to say, hey, me too! No cravings, no morning sickness, no nothing - Great! Not in either pregnancy. The second time around was more tiring, but no major discomfort to be honest.
My first delivery was far from the breeze yours sounds like, but my second compensated for that big time. I'm hoping a second delivery will be as easy for you as your first (or my second) - and may it be soon!
To all others, please feel free to hate me too :-)

disgust for you...I usually had the very easy labors and deliveries, but I also had almost every other known discomfort of pregnancy and a few unknown discomforts.
by tjb22 on Fri May 09, 2008 at 01:06:10 PM PDT
but only because you gave the green light.
I hate you. :)
