except to just power through and remember the beauty part--when it's over, it's over, and you have the biggest reward you will ever have. The only reward you will ever have for major discomfort. When I went to the hospital to have my son, I was dreading birth and looking forward to not being pregnant anymore. But also, I had this sadness, knowing that he would probably be my last. I kept thinking, "this will probably be the last time I'm in the hospital for a happy occasion."
My weirdest symptom was nausea triggered by "art". My daughter's films, songs and books that I was tired of. Most notably, the beautiful animated film Snow White, and this obnoxious little My Little Pony book. Had me not only queasy but vomiting, every single time.

My Little Pony makes me want to vomit anyway... :)
I am bittersweet about being at the end of my probably last pg, but I do look forward to being the only person in my body again.

don't get my silly Polyanna lecture wrong. I deplore being pregnant. It's one of the many reasons I probably won't have more.

that just made me laugh! I didn't think it was Pollyannish at all, very pragmatic. :)

verily, I am jealous. My baby is also kicking and rolling right this second in a sort of ticklish way.
Now I feel better...

sounds made me sick. Hearing anything pour of flop down onto a hard surface would make me vomit.

What is up with pregnancy nausea? I mean, wouldn't holding down food seem evolutionarily appropriate?

it's also important to avoid toxins? Just a loose theory.
by Erin on Wed May 07, 2008 at 12:05:01 PM PDT
that's my theory too-- you don't need calories early on, but small amounts of toxins are pretty damaging during the first trimester when organs are generating. after that, not so much, but your caloric need goes up.

When I was in my first trimester (a year ago) I was so tired I ended up putting in My Neighbor Totoro more afternoons than I'd like to admit. The MUSIC from that STILL makes me nauseous as it just reminds me so heavily of feeling that way on those hot afternoons.

for me still - almost 4 years later!
