Dr. Jack Newman has to say about alcohol and breastfeeding:
"Reasonable alcohol intake should not be discouraged at all. As is the case with most drugs, very little alcohol comes out in the milk. The mother can take some alcohol and continue breastfeeding as she normally does. Prohibiting alcohol is another way we make life unnecessarily restrictive for nursing mothers."
Amen. Bottoms up ladies!
If you're ready to wean great, but if you feel that you have to wean because of your upcoming trip, you don't have to. I went to China for 3 weeks when my DD was a year and a half. I pumped while I was away to keep my supply up, and when I got home she went right back to the boob without missing a beat.
