I stood in line at the postoffice today for 40 minutes -- less than a week before christmas -- they know this, right? yet, only 1 person at the front counter....I waited 40 minutes to mail 1 package....the line wasn't that long but it got longer....

I try to get zen about lines now. If they happen, they're gonna happen and no sense wasting time being frazzled. I start chatting to people. Thus far, no one's gone postal at me!

Hardly any lines at the DMV either.
Uh oh, just gave away all my secrets. Yes, if you live in the Bay Area it might well be faster to drive up here rather than stand in line there. :-) :-) :-) :-)

They not only gave my kids lollipops on Tuesday, they were the same kind, so as to avoid a fight over who got what flavor.

staffed the place properly. I commented to my son that the post office in Antigua Guatemala was faster than ours. He laughed.
