  • Oh, thank you... (0 / 0)

for speaking out for those of us who chose to have more than two children.

My husband and I have seven children...if I had a dime for everytime I was asked "are they all yours", well, I wouldn't be worrying about college tuition right now.  We have a couple of distinct looks in our family, too...I have three red headed children, a couple of brunettes, and one who was curly headed blonde as a young child.  Interestingly enough, my twins look the least alike of any of my children.  People would often ask "are they twins?" and when I replied "yes" would come back with "no, they're not"....as if I didn't know???

And I have very fond memories of hours spent in Spencers Gifts...

    • we have a family friend (0 / 0)

he's a twin. His twin is a sister. How many times do you think they've been asked if they're identical twins?

      • I can imagine (0 / 0)

since I've got boy/girl twins. When people ask me that I just want to say "think about what you just said."

      • My twins are both girls, (0 / 0)

although certainly not identical.  When they were little, people would first ask "are they twins?" and when I'd tell them they were, many would come back with "no, they're not" upon taking a closer look at them.

What the hell is wrong with some people???

"You know, actually, you're right. I must have hallucinated carrying and birthing both of them at the same time. What am I thinking?"

          • LOL - (0 / 0)

What the hell is wrong w/people?  is cracking me up.  And Rachel you are too funny...

My husband is an identical twin.  I'm sure his Mom has a ton of these stories....plus she had a total of 7 kids, which brought added attention as well.  Six boys and one girl....can you imagine?

            • actually, (0 / 0)

when we lived in Paris, I worked for a couple of ESL schools. One was run by an American woman who had married a Swiss man and had lived in Paris for more than 25 years. Very devout Catholics, very warm family people. Six boys, one girl (the youngest!). It was the most amazing family. By the time I'd left, there were already something like 10 grandchildren. She ran the school out of her house (more like a compound, if you can imagine it-  they bought a couple of small buildings in an alley a la Parisian, and the husband converted it.) People everywhere - I couldn't keep track of who was whom! And let me tell you, fantastically attractive people to boot.

              • sounds like my husband's family (0 / 0)

the girl was first, then 6 boys..  When we get together now for family functions - if everyone is in attendance, I think we total near 60....hard to get a good picture, but we sure make great memories.

A woman looked at my 8 year old and my 11 year old standing next to each other and asked if they're twins. There's like a head difference in height. I don't say this very often, but... DUH!
