Friday Open Thread

Because words just aren’t enough, I thought I would post a light, fun, fluff video. I saw this yesterday, and laughed until I cried. Of course, I love Jimmy Fallon – so I’m biased.

I hope everyone enjoys their Friday.

Friday Open Thread – You Are More Beautiful Than You Think Edition

You’ve probably already seen this, but I thought it too important not to share. Dove has come out with its new ad campaign, and it is very powerful.

Personally, I believe that a lot of women, myself included, have a slight case of body dysmorphia – and that makes me sad. Maybe we ought to see ourselves the way others see us.

As women and our worse critics, we tend to spend a lot of time analyzing the things that we feel are not quite right with our appearance. What we should be doing is spending time appreciating the things that ARE right.

So now, on this gorgeous (at least in Los Angeles) Friday morning, how would you describe yourself to a stranger? Name the qualities you possess that make you the amazing woman you are today.

Friday Open Thread

Happy Friday! How is everyone today?

In the same vein as Erika’s open thread yesterday, I just finished reading Harlan Coben’s latest thriller novel called Six Years. Oh. My. God. A must read.

What are you up to? Any big plans for the weekend?

Friday Open Thread

As many of you already know from the change on my facebook status, my boyfriend and I broke up last week. Apparently, he didn’t love me as much as he claimed, or I didn’t know him as well as I thought I did. Sad – because now he’s just somebody that I used to know. Nonetheless, I am in a period of mourning and have decided to buck up, work through it, and move on.

I want to thank you all for your words of encouragement, both here and on facebook via comments on the change in my relationship status and through private messages. You gals are AWESOME! In addition, plenty of my girlfriends have rallied their support and have already lined up a few dates for me, with my very first date being for tonight! You know what they say – one nail drives out another! Hee, hee! I know it may be too soon, but there is nothing wrong with some manly attention, right? God bless my girls. Where would I be without my little corner of cheerleaders?

So, wish me luck on my date tonight! What to wear, what to wear…?

Karina will also be home from school this weekend, so that will be a nice distraction. I miss my girl.

What about you? Any big plans for the weekend?
