I am off to see “Ice Age 2″ with my husband and son.
Have fun gabbing!

Post a review when you get back!
We’re watching “Madagascar” right now. I loathe it, but we went to the Central Park Zoo on Tuesday, and Miles really wanted me to get it again because the story starts in the Central Park Zoo. So, to the top of the Netflix queue it went!
i didn’t like that movie, either. something about the whole big to-do about who was in it at the beginning… and then some other things, too. i decided to nix it from the rotation.
I won’t be putting it back in the queue again any time soon.
Lately my son’s school has been using Disney movies as a bit of a filler for rainy day recesses and times when one class has to wait for another. It’s bugging me — I try not to be a stick in the mud or a hard-ass, but can’t they play something else?
The first time I popped it in, I wasn’t even watching it. Then the dancehall beat came on and I was dancing. I went King Julian groupie crazy! I downloaded all 3 versions of the song, I had a dancing King Julian on my desktop, screensavers and a poster. It’s pretty pathetic.
Oddly, before you, I thought I was the only parent who liked this movie. Everyone else I know absolutely hated it. I’m very interested to see if Disney’s ripoff “The Wild” (they couldn’t come up with a better title NOT in Madagascar?) is better.
the problem is, my son knows how to work the remote and he LOVES to rewind the scenes he finds amusing, meaning that an 80 minute movie lasts 2 hours…. And then there are the “behind the scenes” and “special features” aspects of DVDs.
But I can’t complain. We just got back from a day in NYC where he did a rainforest diorama workshop and we went to the “Darwin” exhibition, which was fantastic. So, a little chill out with inane comedy seems in order!
I was on my way out, when my husband let me know that I didn’t have to go. We are moving next week — to our first home. Yay! — I decided to stay behind to pack.
But my son loved it. My husband said he was absolutely still and way into it. When I asked Ari what he saw, he said, “Squirrel! Elephant!” He’s two, so I know he was really paying attention.
Okay, that song is catchy, but the penguins are crude and there’s a lot of near-cursing and sexual innuendo. Not sure how much of it my sons pick up on, but I’d prefer that neither of them repeats any of what they heard!
Congratulations on the house! We bought our first house five years ago and are very much enjoying fixing it up. Today, my husband continued his relentless assault on our yard, which is a pretty nice size for a city house.
to find a movie that fits our bill and that keeps both (almost 6 and almost 3) entertained. They tend to like things like Shark Boy and Lava Girl (surprisingly very good) and Sky High (not so much). Meanwhile, I’m thinking Curious George was great, except for the plundering of African artifacts, but maybe we can hold off until they’re 8 or so before having that discussion?
We saw Madagascar at the drive in, though, and it’s hard to hate a movie that you see at the drive in. Of course, the farm across the street from the drive in has applied for a CAFO permit for a finishing operation that’d do something like 20,000 hogs/month, so it appears that another drive in will bite the dust soon. Boycott Hatfield, Smithfield, etc, please? </tangent>
Ok, I’m guilty of watching Nickelodeon’s The Amanda Show, because I LOVE AMANDA BYNES. She has always had incredible timing and is just such an incredible young actress. I just got back from watching “She’s the Man”. Amanda Bynes new movie. It is hysterical. Highly recommend it, please. Ok, ok, that was a rip-off of Penelope Please, Amanda Bynes biggest fan…
I think maybe I’ll take Ilia to see this one. The first one I like only because there was no singing in it and the story actually moved along without songs (Disney take note!).

Bounced from the queue

uggh
I’ve been turned off since that damned Spirit, Stallion of the Cimaroon. DS bawled through that damned movie. So did I.
I love Madagascar…
But honestly, it’s only because I love all those monkeys dancing to King Julian’s Move It Move It song.
Right there with you

I still have a soft spot
for The Jungle Book….
I wanna walk like you,
talk like you…
i did
…like certain elements.
i am a deep house deejay so i loved the dancing and the party scenes… i guess the rest just felt a bit uninspired.
definitely not on a Pixar level and those are undoubtedly my faves.
Overload….

Ended up not seeing the movie…

Hey I liked Madagascar
Well, I liked the soundtrack: “I like to move it, move it. I like to move it, move it…” It was cute.
The song…

Love, love, love…
the sound track of “Curious George.” We play it all the time and the three of us groove to it.
Because our son is so young, we have yet to experience the dreadful kid movies. But we really enjoy the Pixar films: the Incredibles, Finding Nemo.
Pixar rules…
I really love their movies. The Incredibles was a great film that just so happened to be animated.
I LOVE Amanda Bynes!!

I’ll put it on my Netflix list, Gloria
I saw a preview for it and I remember thinking it looked good. Glad I got an endorsement before embarassing myself in front of my husband watching it.
whoops
must’ve reset something. That’s me, above.
Yeah, Markos liked Ice Age 2…
He thought there was enough action for our 2-year-old with some adult humor for him. Both my guys loved the squirrel!
I liked the first one
